What's on the Docket # 33 ~ April 27 to May 3

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student Advisory Board (SAB): Are you interested in being part of Student Advisory Board in the 2015-16 school year?  SAB serves as a conduit between students and the administration by representing the student perspective in matters pertaining to the student handbook.  For more information, please see the SAB 2015 - 16 Application Process, which has a link to the application as well as more details about this group.  Deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 1.

Book Orders: Livro Facil Orders deadline extended to Monday, 27 April – see Reminder Of the Week below

Varsity Boys’ basketball pre-season practices begin Monday April 27th.  These optional practices will take place 16:15-17:45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, any student interested in playing on the Varsity Boys team next season is encouraged to come out.

Chamber Music Festival: Will take place on Tuesday, 28 April at 14:00, 15:20 and 19:30 in the Band Room

Last day of Classes for Seniors: Wednesday, 29 April

Junior / Senior PROM – Last day of ticket sales is Tuesday, 28 April!  Only R$ 120.00 per person.

Yearbook Pre-sale: The pre-sale is happening until April 28th for R$110 and R$150 after that. Students and parents can find that information in the Graded website and purchase it at Livro Facil. (http://www.graded.br/page.cfm?p=8746).

Interested in joining The Talon? It is time to select next year's seniors, juniors, and sophomores who will lead The Talon through its 15th year. Are you curious? Do you like to write? Can you keep deadlines? Read and complete this application carefully on or before Friday, May 15, 16:00. (You will be evaluated in part by how well you follow directions.) In addition to the application, you must write one article (500-700 words) for possible publication in any of the site's sections (unless you are a current staff member), preferably the section in which you are most interested. If you are only interested in a non-writing position (layout, photographer, and artist), fill out the application and send us examples of your artwork (instead of an article). See the application for further information about the process. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask one of the current Editors-in-Chief (MC Otani or Paula Schulman) or the advisors (Mr. Berg or Ms. Pfeiffer). Key qualities of a successful candidate? A polished writer with original ideas who is interested in local, national, and international events, and who has initiative and meets deadlines.

REMINDER OF THE WEEK

Book Orders: Livro Facil Orders extended to Monday, 27 April

As per Mr. Peterson's email dated April 12, you can now order students' books through the Livro Facil website. Books will then be delivered to Graded for pick-up at the start of next semester. This is different than past years, when the school ordered books, books were passed out in classes, and you were charged through your tuition bill. If you would like the books to be delivered to Graded, you will need to order them through Livro Facil

To order books, you need to do the following:
Confirm which classes you are taking next academic year.
Find your courses on this list.
Order the books for those specific courses through Graded's Livro Facil website.
If you are unsure which classes you are taking next academic year, check with your guidance counselor.
The books will be delivered in late July and students will receive information then about picking them up at the school.
