Did you know: Brazil achieved its independence from Portugal 193 years ago next week

Brazilian Independence Day is coming (7th September) - We will be celebrating this event throughout this week at school. The PTA will have cultural and food tables outside the cafeteria on Thursday. HS students are permitted to go to tables from 12:35pm onwards.
Lets celebrate Semana da Pátria Brasileira.
Here is the agenda for the week:

01/09 - *Tuesday - HS -1h10 -1h45 -  Author Ignacio de Loyola Brandão and singer  Rita Gullo  - show: "Solidão no fundo da agulha"

03/09 - *Thursday - ES - 8:10 - 8:50 -  Babado de Chita ( www.babadodechita.com.br-  Brazilian folk dances - interactive show

03/09 - *Thursday PTA exhibition - 8:10AM - 4:00 PM - theme: "Rio de Janeiro e  sua visibilidade" in front of the cafeteria - visits:
- Pre School - 8:10 - 10:00
- ES - 10 AM - 300 PM - during Portuguese classes
- MS and HS - during EB/World Languages classes and lunch time

* Please wear Brazilian t-shirts or National colours

MAP Testing Make-ups
Students who were absent on the day of the test or were not able to complete the tests when they sat them,  will complete MAP testing on Wednesday and Thursday 3rd September in SAS in room AC28. Students must inform Ms Wilkinson if they are not able to attend these sessions.

Auditions for the Fall MS/HS Play--Shuddersome: Tales of Poe--will be held in the Dance Studio. 
Auditions: 
Monday, Aug. 31 -- 3:00-5:00 pm  
Tuesday, Sept. 1 -- 3:00-5:00 pm
Preparation: Please collect sides in front of Ms. Grimes' office in the Arts Center. Be prepared to present these & participate in improv games. Any questions? Speak with Ms. Grimes directly.

Attention Seniors: Need help with completing your college applications? Ms Marks or Mr Daniel will be in the HS Counseling Office on Tuesday, September 1, and Thursday September 3 from 3:15 until 4:15. Drop in to get help and feedback with any application that you are working on. 

Writing Center:
Do you struggle with starting an essay? Keeping your ideas organized? Want help with MLA citations? The Graded Writing Center is here to help YOU.
The Graded Writing Center is a resource to help all students at any stage of the writing process. (Note: We cannot assist with certain IB assessments.) You can sign up for 20-minute slots outside the new office located in A2. 
The current available hours are as follows:
Day A Block 3
Day B Block 8
Day C Block 1 
Day D Block 6; 
Monday & Tuesday after school (3:15-4) 
Monday & Friday Flex (1:05-1:45)
