GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
                                                                                                                                               

Did you know: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Wear pink!

Arts Combined Rehearsal for MS and HS students:
On Monday 19th October, the Music Department will be having the second full combined music rehearsal for the band, choir, and orchestra students. This will take place during Block 6.

Strings Festival 2015 on Tuesday 20th October:
Inspiring young musicians for individual excellence.
Every year the Orchestra Program promotes the Strings Festival by inviting professional musicians to join the orchestra and work with our young musicians for an entire day. HS Orchestra students will be off timetable for the whole day. Students are responsible for communicating with teachers about making up any missed work.
We will present the result of the work for Graded Families at our evening Concert
This year our theme is Rock! We are going to play Kiss, Queen, Metallica, AC/DC and Much more!
Tuesday, October 20th, 19:30, Black Box Theater, free admission

Parent- Teacher Conferences: On Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October we will be holding our Semester I Parent-Teacher Conferences.
We highly encourage students to attend with their parents. The Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place as follows:
  • Thursday, October 22: 13:00 to 16:00
  • Friday, October 23: 08:15 to 16:00 (with lunch break from 12:00 - 13:00)
GIN Conference (Rio) 22nd -24th October:
Global Issues Network aims to empower young people to collaborate locally, regionally, and globally in order to create sustainable solutions for global issues. The GIN conference this year will be hosted at EARJ, in Rio de Janeiro. A group of 12 students and 2 teachers will represent Graded. They will be presenting their projects on Education, Digital Divide, and the Environment. Students will leave on the 21st October after school and return on Sunday 25th October.
Students must check what class assignments they will miss.

CAS & BACKSTAGE OPPORTUNITIES! 
For our up-coming show "Shuddersome: Terrifying Tales of Poe", the Theatre Dept. is looking for CREW members to help with the following: 

*Lighting, Sound and Projections Operators
*Front of House (Tickets, Programs, Food)
*Backstage Crew Members
*Makeup & Hair
Come help make our spooky show, all that more frightening! 
If you are interested, please see Ms. Grimes in the Theatre Office this week or send an email of interest to emily.grimes@graded.br.
Commitment levels vary on the type of position, but crew members must commit to attending:
· One crew meeting with Ms. Grimes
· One Full Run Through Rehearsal 
· Nov. 2-6 -- Show Week Rehearsals and Performances
Writing Center:
The Graded Writing Center is a resource to help all students at any stage of the writing process. (Note: We cannot assist with certain IB assessments.) You can sign up for 20-minute slots outside the new office located in A2. 
The current available hours are as follows:
Day A Block 3/Day B Block 8/Day C Block 1 /Day D Block 6; 
Monday & Tuesday after school (3:15-4) 
Monday & Friday Flex (1:05-1:45)

Students: If you are in the Orchestra for the Springs Festival on Tuesday, make sure you fill out the absence form prior to the event.
Students: If you are going on the GIN Conference in Rio, make sure you have filled and turned in your absence form.
