What's on the Docket # 25 ~ 7th March to the 13th March

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Did you know: On Tuesday 8th March, it is International Woman's Day.

PGC Family night on Monday 7th March: This is an opportunity for parents of Grade 9 to learn more about the Peer Group Connection. Freshmen and their parents should meet in the cafeteria at 7:00pm.  At 7:30pm, we will move to the auditorium.  If anyone arrives after 7:45pm, we'll be in the A wing classrooms (upstairs) for the remainder of the evening.

IB Junior Visual Arts: On Monday 7th March students will be exhibiting their artwork to the public for the first time. They have been working hard and are looking forward to sharing their work with you. Please join us on Tuesday, March 8th from 3:30 to 4:30 for a small reception to mark this event as well as the photography exhibit How I See the World.
Both exhibitions and the reception are taking place in the Arts Bldg., 2nd floor near the elevators. Please stop by if you can. The work will be on exhibit for the month of March.

Upper School Library: The book orders just arrived - we have 350 new books in the Upper School Library!! On Tuesday, March 8th start your day in the library . . . enjoy breakfast and check out the new titles!! Doors will open at 7:30 AM.

HACIA Trip: This trip will be taking place from the 8th to the 15th March .
Each year, members of the HACIA Democracy activity at Graded fly to different international locations to participate in the annual Harvard Conference, where they debate pressing issues pertinent to Latin America. This year, our destination is Costa Rica. All students have been working diligently throughout the year to develop their debating and public speaking skills in order to excel at the summit and represent Graded successfully. Anyone who has had the opportunity to participate in HACIA can testify to the fact that it is a massive learning opportunity above anything else. Interactions with over 500 students from 35 different schools throughout the continent stimulate the understanding of new perspectives regarding democratic advancement and development, pushing our students towards more unique and sophisticated ways of thinking about the world. Our goals this year are the same as always: absorbing as much knowledge as possible from our peers and fellow Harvard undergraduates, refining our argumentation, negotiation and cooperation skills, and of course, having a fantastic time.

BRAMUN Trip: This is will be taking place from the 9th to the 13th March.

Go Green Announcement: Service Learning Groups are working with Unimed to collect can tabs like the ones on Coke cans. We will have a bottle by the snack bar to collect can tabs in HS. There will be one plastic bottle for each grade, and the grade that collects the most can tabs will be rewarded with ice cream.

IB Mock Exams: These will be held from the 14th to the 18th March Information for parents about the IB Mock Exams (seniors).

AMIS HS Band & Orchestra: Students will be leaving on the 13th March and will be returning 20th March.

IB Visual Arts Senior Exhibition Opening Reception - This will be held on March 22nd between 3:30pm - 5:30pm in the Lemann-Tully Arts Center Gallery, 2nd Floor. Please come along and see the amazing work our students have accomplished.

Running for Literacy (Marathon fundraiser): Are you aware that Brazil has a significantly large inequality gap in terms of education standards across the nation? Approximately 18 million people of the ages of 15+ fall under category of illiterate? What if I told you, you could help? "Run" for change you wish to see in the world! Participate in Lê Comigo's fundraising marathon April 24th, 2016.
